Drive (Motor): The design of high-speed and super high-speed elevators, used in high rise buildings do not employ induction motors. They are replaced by highly efficient permanent magnet motors.
Control system
The relay based control system needs frequent visual inspection by the maintenance technician. The contacts corrode over time developing a high-resistance contact. In relay based elevator control switches directly drives the relays. Elevator Safety Components leads the contacts in the push switches (used in control panel) to corrode fast.
Microprocessor control systems for elevators became the standard for Elevator Safety Components designed some twenty years ago. Should the elevator use relay-based controls, it is prudent to replace it with Microcontroller based solution. It could be expensive. Sometime soon it will become a necessity. Membrane keypads are less susceptible to cor rosion since they feature waterproof, dustproof, anti-corrosion. They are preferred by designers for their reliability, light weight, long life and colorful styles
Braking system: The braking system in elevators without speed control needs frequent checkup. The electronic speed control of drive motor gives more life to the braking subsystem.
Microcontroller based control system lends itself to diagnostics and performance monitoring. With usage, deviation of these parameters from the vendor's catalog can be noticed. Elevator Safety Components Fine tuning the subsystems and replacements wherever necessary should be undertaken when there is significant deviation.
